-aaand now we return to our regularly scheduled programming! I hope somebody is enjoying all these sections written from the point of view of characters that i don’t normally focus on, because switching around like this is really hard! ;_; I may have mentioned/ranted about this before (since this is very often the reason for the long delays between sections), but i try hard to find an individual ‘voice’ for each character that is noticeably distinct from all of the other characters in the story, and i’m not always sure that i succeed… >_<;
Bah – anyhow, this section is a Work In Progress. Anything written here is subject to change without notice, and while this initial part is pretty small, you probably wouldn’t believe how many times i’ve already re-written these paragraphs. Hopefully i’ll have more done soon, but this section may be posted in larger chunks than earlier sections, due to pacing issues; you have been warned…

Temari shut off the television with a visceral shudder of horror. Though her stay in ANBU’s dungeons hadn’t been notably unpleasant, she suddenly had a much greater respect for the Hidden Leaf’s torture and interrogation specialists. This ‘Daytime TV’ thing was possibly the most insidious and evil population control program she’d ever seen; she’d only been watching for an hour and she could already feel her brain turning to mush.
That has to be what it is. No sane person would ever voluntarily watch this garbage, the blonde kunoichi decided, tossing down the remote control in disgust. Temari sensed a brief flash of hostility from across the hall as the little plastic box clattered to the floor, but the front desk clerk apparently didn’t feel like crossing the foyer to scold her; he probably hadn’t seen anything that he wanted to watch either.
Settling deeper into the cushions of the worn orange sofa that she’d claimed as her own, Temari tilted her head back to stare up at the ceiling. What the hell is taking them so long? she wondered, trying to imagine the scene she would see if her eyes could pierce the many layers of wood, plaster and concrete that separated the TV lounge from the rooms above.
She would probably see a pair of silvery-white eyes staring right back at her. The thought almost made her look away, but instead Temari did a bit of mental calculation to find the exact line of sight between herself and their hotel room and turned to give the Hyuuga girl a scowl of impatience. Go ahead and watch; you’ll be seeing this face a lot over the next week, so you might as well get used to it.
つづく (To be continued – Section Incomplete)
Hyuuga girl??? I would say that it’s Hinata, but somehow, her cuteness keeps me from thinking she can scowl in anyway (even if it’s impatient)…. and I sorta love that whole Daytime TV paragraph thing – it’s sooooo true.
LOL love the start.
Well Temari never really interacted with Hinata so she probably thinks all Hyuuga are the same. Won’t she have a surprise, plus it’ll be at least a few more days before Hinata can use her eyes. I’m guessing they won’t tell Temari that bit of information…
I’m hoping we’ll she hinata’s confrontation…hopefully she won’t chicken out…she might surprise us…maybe Sakura’s constant teasing will do her some good here and give her some confidence…hopefully…
I feel your pain. My first FFnet project (still unposted) is currently stalled because I’m having trouble writing a certain character’s POV, though the story is a bit different since it’s written in Third Person Omniscient (which is HARD, since I usually write in the style Suiren is in more). I’m currently attempting to find his particular voice by writing a random story, as I thought the problem might be since I don’t have previous experience with him to fall back on. …think Itachi POV. :shudders:
And, um, I really don’t see the confusion with Hinata. She’s clearly not the one scowling — TEMARI is.
I somehow don’t get The Wheel of, joke though. I remember a Wheel of Fortune. Odd as I am, I can only think of ‘Pain’ when I see the cut-off word that begins with ‘P’.
There’s no mistakes I can spot but I just woke up so meh. ;P
Ohhhhhhhh. Guess I read that wrong.
While the one scowling IS Temari, we don’t know that the Hyuuga in question is Hinata yet, since I don’t recall being told that she and Sakura have rejoined Kurenai and there are others in that family.
Although, admittedly, it’s been some time since I read the last bit with Sakura and Hinata in it.
Nevermind, I just reread their last scene and that indicates Hinata going to talk to Kurenai while Sakura stays at the castle.
Entertaining, and I’m glad we’re getting back to the Sand Country trip, but it might be a little jarring going from Serious!Sasuke getting dragged off by ANBU to Temari watching daytime tv.
I bring news (for those who doesn’t already know).
Thought as much as I dislike the recent Naruto chapter and stopped reading them quite some weeks back I finally manned myself up and read them, and guess what ‘SPOILER WARNING’ in ch 456 samurai’s appear in the canon-verse.
Is that good news or not?
And how similar are they too are hypothetical samurai here (or do we need to see more of Suiren samurai to even compare)?
Aaah, stupid homonyms. I meant to ‘our’, although I really should say to Eimii’s since hers are probably somewhat independent of any ideas that exist in the rambling comments section here.
Its hard to say as not much has been revealed of them in the canon-verse. Although since they only exist within one country, as opposed to running parrellel to ninja as an alternative military force as they do in Suiren, then I can only assume that Kishimoto has blessed either them or their land with some special qualities that discourage the neighbouring ninja villages from invading.
The manga is taking a break next week but I reckon by the week after that we should see a little of what powers they have(n’t). Until we see enough of Suiren samurai that we’re able to make a proper comparison, will probably be bit longer though.
