There’s been some speculation about the events at the end of the last section, so while i don’t have time to start writing the next section at this particular moment, i guess i can put up this little ‘bridge’ that goes between them. As usual, this is a Work In Progress, and thus subject to change upon my every fickle whim…
But anyhow, the show goes on!

So we’re to assume that Sasuke arrived during the last part of Asuma’s bit?
Well, for now you can assume he heard at least that much; Asuma, Kakashi and Gai really weren’t talking for all that long, so he might have heard more than that…

Heh; well, don’t forget that Suiren is about 50% comedy – though i didn’t need to stretch it too far in this case. Itachi said something that could be easily misinterpreted, and Kisame isn’t one to take things too seriously (and he does actually use the word ‘cute’ in canon, at one point)…
Akatsuki duos always amuse me, especially Itachi and Kisame. I mean, Kisame doesn’t look much of a boke but that IS essentially what he is, since Itachi is so obviously the straight man.
If nothing else, keep the hair comment. XD;
(And honestly, to me, Itachi’s greatest failure is how he went about ‘handling’ Sasuke; he simply put too much faith as to Sasuke’s intelligence. …either that or using Tsukuyomi on an eight year old had… detrimental consequences for long-term mental development.)
You’ll be skipping the fight scene, correct? How about the Naruto part of it afterward?
Did he use Tsukiyomi back then? I can’t remember…
Anyhow, yes, I won’t be including the upcoming fight in the narrative for this chapter, and i’m going to plead the fifth on the other part of your question, so you’re just gonna have to wait and see…
You probably won’t answer this, but is Kurenai in the same town where the Naruto fight scene is going to be in?

i love the akatsuki duos. they are always hilarious, i hope youre able to write a few more scenes between them before they disappear.
i was just wondering though, if you are retroactively weaving the canon into your story? or more specifically, are itachi and kisames reason for visiting the same as the reasons revealed to sasuke in the manga around chapter 400?
I dunno; i haven’t really been following recent canon too closely, so while i know Itachi’s ‘real reason’ for killing his clan, i can’t remember reading anything about there being a ‘real reason’ those two were in Konoha on that day…
It’s not really a reason per-say, just a chance for Itachi to remind the village elders that he’s still alive.
And, according to his bio in naruto.wikia, to remind the elders to not harm Sasuke – but I’m still trying to decide whether or not that’s the fangirls who updated his bio reading too much into madara’s explanation to sasuke, or some big point I missed when reading the manga.

Aaaaah… well, in that case, i ain’t tellin’ whether or not the Itachi’s motives are the same; i think it’s more fun to find these things out when they become important ^_^…
