Hrm, well about the only thing I can say about writing Hinata is to reread all the bits where she appears in the manga (pre-timeskip anyway), which you’ve no doubt already thought of.
Dead is a binary value. Either you’re dead, or you’re not. There’s no ‘mostly dead’!

Ah, I have had an encouraging thought whilst whiling away the hours and chancing to check whether this fine fic had happened to update.
If recent Naruto canon is lacking, that’s why its so enjoyable to have your fanfic take the basis for it, back when it was good and continue it in a better direction. Thus, rereading the good bits (and maybe some other good fanfics) is more important than canon, since you’re rewriting history anyway.
